Day 9 of the Poker Maximus III series had three different forms of poker on the menu as there was a NL Hold’em event, Pot-Limit Omaha tournament and a Stud8 tournament to cap off the day. Combined, there was $55,000 in guaranteed money on the table in these three events.   Play online poker for FREE or REAL MONEY at Carbon Poker here

Event #26: $40,000 Guaranteed NLH Deepstack– ($200+15 buy-in)

This was the biggest buy-in event of the day and 234 players ended up registering for this $200 tournament. That put the final prize pool at almost $47,000 not a small chunk of change by any means. The top 27 finishers took home a portion of that $47K but it was between Moondiesel1 and FrancieRyder76 at the end to see who would take home the largest portion of that prize pool.

Moondiesel1 was leading when the final hand came about and both players had flopped top pair when the flop came down Kc,Jd,6s. It was Moondiesel1’s Kd,Th that was in the lead over the Kh,9d FrancieRyder76 was holding and all the chips ended up going in after the 8s fell on the turn. There was no help for FrancieRyder76 when the Qc fell on the river as Moondiesel1 claimed Event #26 and the nearly $11,500 1st place prize.

Final Table Payouts and Prize Winners:

1 Moondiesel1 $11419.20; 2 FrancieRyder76 $7581.60; 3 utatch2 $4680.00; 4 contragaiden01 $3510.00; 5 zackbaker $2901.60; 6 RBDowntown $2340.00; 7 TiLtYdOg $1872.00; 8 BoangTao333 $1497.60; 9 BluffingAlways $1170.00

Event #27: $10,000 Guaranteed PLO – ($30+3 buy-in)

This was one of the more popular Omaha events we have seen in PM III as 399 players entered for their shot at taking this tournament down. Therefore, the top 36 players took home some cash but in order to make a big payday you had to reach the final table. CoolHandTony and riseadaYEAST not only did that but outlasted everyone else in the final nine to play heads up and be one step away from the win.

These two were going back and forth all throughout heads-up play but on the deciding hand it was CoolHandTony who took the lead for good. A flop of Qc,4h,5c brought plenty of action from both sides as CoolHandTony was holding a flush and straight draw with his 2c,3d,8d,3c while riseadaYEAST had an overpair with Kd,Kh,Ad,9c. After a bet, raise, and re-raise all-in the Tc came on the turn sealing the deal for CoolHandTony with his flush. Another Th came on the river but it made no difference, CoolHandTony was the winner and $2700 richer because of it.

1 CoolHandTony $2753.10; 2 riseadaYEAST $1879.29; 3 Goonya $1197.00; 4 dojoonim $897.75; 5 stormV12 $730.17; 6 deadmoney19 $598.50; 7 respect4real $466.83; 8 p0lecat8 $347.13; 9 serenetynow1 $263.34

Event #28: $5,000 Guaranteed Stud8 – ($55+5 buy-in)

The final event of the day saw 146 players get involved in this Stud8 tournament and it was a great one at that. A winner was crowned in a little under six hours as play at the final table was heated with everyone trying to move a step closer to taking it all. It came down to LornaZs and HeWhoShallNotBeNamed in the end with the former coming out on top. Here’s how they did it:

On the final hand both players were happy checking it down all the way until fifth street when LornaZs decided to bet with two pair (5’s and 4s). HeWhoShallNotBeNamed was holding a pair of 10’s in the whole and had to think he was alright given what was showing and raised all-in over the top for a little more than a min-raise. LornaZs had no choice but to call and when that two pair hand improved to 6’s and 5’s it was good enough to take down the pot and win Event #28.

Final table results:

1 LornaZs $2224.31; 2 HeWhoShallNotBeNamed $1445.40; 3 Teanter $963.60; 4 charney666 $642.40; 5 ClovistheRed $513.92; 6 PPP12345 $401.50; 7 bigmob15 $321.20; 8 CallMissCheckFold $256.96; 9 Muskellunge $200.75
