The legendary Doyle Brunson has just hit the big 80.  Happy birthday to the Texas Dolly who celebrated this happy event in beautiful Montana on Flathead Lake.

Brunson making it to 80 is quite a feat considering we nearly lost him at a very young age. In late 1962, doctors discovered an incurable tumor in Doyle’s neck that had spread.  Doctors operated on Brunson and discovered all signs of the cancer had disappeared.  They deemed this a miracle.  Doyle and his wife Louise had utilized the services of a faith healer to help cure the poker icon.  In subsequent years, Brunson would become the victim of multiple armed robberies.

Brunson, a two-time World Series of Poker Main Event bracelet winner, stunned everyone after he originally vowed not to take part in this year’s Main Event.  This would have been the first time Brunson missed a WSOP Main Event in many decades.  But, not only did he participate, the Texas Dolly managed to go pretty deep, outlasting more than half the field of some 6000 plus.

So a big Happy Birthday to Doyle Brunson, who is 80 years young today.  With love from Jenny Woo and the rest of the Gambling911.com crew.
