Americas Cardroom's Online Super Series is living up to its name—and then some. Since launching on Sunday, every event in the 2-week online poker tournament series has seen its guaranteed prize pool super-sized. Over the course of three days, Americas Cardroom has handed out $306,085, eclipsing the original $222,500 that was guaranteed by $83,585.
"Over the last three days, we've seen some tournaments in the Online Super Series wrap up with prize pools of more than double what was guaranteed," said Americas Cardroom spokesperson Michael Harris. "Needless to say, online poker players across the US are loving this series and we're on track to surpass the $1 million mark in no time."
After reporting record prize pools on Sunday, many speculated that the series would slow down during the week. Weekday activity tends to be slower for many online poker sites, but Americas Cardroom's Online Super Series has exceeded expectations and defied predictions with record prize pools and no slowdown in traffic.
Notable events with impressive guarantees include: Event #7, a $10k Guaranteed event with a final prize pool of $18,700; Event #12, a $10k Guaranteed event with a final prize pool of $19,300; and two $4k events on Tuesday and Wednesday with final prize pools of $11,600 and $10,760 respectively.
OSS II is Americas Cardroom's signature online poker series. The $1 million guaranteed Online Super Series features 82 events spread out over two weeks. The series will culminate in a $200,000 guaranteed tournament, with $75k, $100k, and $150k tournaments thrown into the mix, too. OSS II also includes leaderboard competitions with extra prizes on the line for the top performers in the series. The online poker tournament series runs from January 13th through January 27th, and low buy-in qualifiers are now running.
OSS II continues today at 7:00pm ET with a $10,000 Guaranteed event and a $20,000 Guaranteed at 9:00pm ET. The tournaments cost $100+9 to get into and low buy-in qualifiers are now running for poker players who want to get into the tourney for less.
Americas Cardroom is guaranteeing $44,000 in prize pool money today, spread out over four tournaments. Players looking for the next big 6-figure event don't have to wait long. A $150k Guaranteed event gets underway on Sunday at 7:00pm ET.
