Six of the top ten online poker sites in the world experienced a drop of 5 percent or more in traffic this week while the overall average was 3.5 percent, according to PokerScout.com, a website that monitors “real cash” traffic.

PokerStars, which led the pack, only witnessed a 1.1 percent decline thanks perhaps to the introduction of its Zoom Poker, its new fast-paced online poker platform that moves players immediately to another table once they fold their cards.  According to Poker Scout, Zoom Poker accounted for nearly 25 percent of the cash play on the PokerStars site.

PokerScout.com also noted the following:

Player counts do not tell the whole story, however. Despite making up only one-quarter of players, Zoom Poker has been racking up nearly half of all cash game hands dealt because the hands are approximately three times as fast.

Also, the iPoker Network appears to be closing in on number two PartyPoker.  Whereas Party enjoyed around a 750 player on average cushion between it and iPoker, the later now was within around 450 players on average.
