Maverick Gaming is shutting down two of its Seattle, Washington-area casinos as part of its ongoing bankruptcy restructuring.
Crazy Moose Casino Mountlake Terrace will close permanently on July 31, 2026, affecting about 82 employees while Silver Dollar Casino Mill Creek will also close July 31, 2026, affecting about 41 employees.
Maverick Gaming operates approximately operates 27 casinos throughout Washington State that encompass 1,800 slot machines, 350 table games, 1,020 hotel rooms, and 30 restaurants. Its properties regularly host poker and blackjack tournaments.
Maverick filed for bankruptcy in July and has already shuttered four other Seattle-area cardrooms: Dragon Tiger Casino in Mountlake Terrace, Palace Casino in Lakewood, Silver Dollar in Renton and Roman Casino in Seattle.
Reasons cited for the poor performance include Washington cardrooms facing significant surveillance and regulatory costs with a number of locations said to have incurred operating losses over the last few years.
Maverick Gaming is a privately held commercial gaming company founded and controlled by businessman and poker player Eric Persson. The company's properties fall under the category of card rooms.
Washington State full service casinos are all Tribal owned with many licensed to offer sports betting as well. Mobile sports betting in the state is only permitted on the casino property.
Card rooms such as those operated by Maverick Gaming tend to be more restrictive and are prohibited from operating sportsbooks.
