Online Poker Tournament News: Player Banks $34K on Annie Duke Bounty

The excitement continues at the UB.com with the summer’s biggest online poker tournament – the Championship Series.  On Thursday, a player by the name of BUZZMERCHANT managed to kill off UB.com pro Annie Duke during the NLH $150,000 GTD and walk off with a cool $34K.

The $150K GTD event attracted 429 players to the UB poker room, with the top 45 places to be paid.

A total of four players finished in double figures.  The 5^th place spot paid just shy of $10,000.

“This is so much excitement during such hard economic times,” commented Payton O’Brien, Senior Editor of the Gambling911.com website.  “10^th place paid close to $2000 and that alone should carry most people for a good two months.”

When it came down to three-handed at the final table, BUZZMERCHANT (749,247 chips) DEDA35 (383,739 chips), and Z06FANATIC called for deal to be done. The remaining $75,300 prize money was divided agreeably, leaving $3,000 aside for the winner. Z06FANATIC was the first to go, leaving the other two to battle it out for the $3K.

Annie Duke managed a 49^th place finish in this online poker tournament event.

Another event, the UBOC5 Event #16 was cancelled due to technical difficulties. 

“Players who showed up to play in my UBOC event last night were disappointed, and we’re embarrassed and apologetic that a technical glitch caused the tournament cancellation, and came between them and the $50K Guarantee,” said UB’s Cardroom Consultant Annie Duke. “All players registered have since been refunded for both my event and the Mini-UBOC Limit Omaha 8 or Better, plus we’re running two separate freerolls for these players on Sunday, awarding seats to the UBOC Championship $1 Million GTD, and the all-new Mini-UBOC Championship event.”

All players registered in the UBOC#16 are invited to a Freeroll on Sunday, August 29th @ 13:00 ET – Top 9 places win a $1000+50 seat for the $1 Million GTD UBOC Championship MONSTER STACK NLH Main Event; 10th-18th places earn a $50+5 seat for the Mini-UBOC Championship $50K GTD. All players registered in the Mini-UBOC Event #16 are invited to a Freeroll on Sunday, August 29th @ 13:00 ET – Top 20 finishers earn a ticket to the Mini-UBOC Championship Monster Stack $50K GTD.
