UB.com wrapped its 12-day UBOC5 schedule last week, and the results for the leading online poker site’s debut summer online championship tournament series has been hailed a surefire success.

“After the success of UBOC 4 earlier this year, we kept hearing how hungry players were for another multi-million dollar online poker series where finishing in the money was actually realistic for players of all stake levels,” stated Annie Duke, UB.com’s Cardroom Consultant. “UBOC 5 delivered like no other series can and the proof is in the numbers.”

For the first time in their history of dealing out the cards, UB took a calculated risk on running a follow-up to their annual UBOC4 within the same calendar year, and the question was on industry lips, could UB sustain a second online championship tournament series for 2010; thousands of players flocking to the UB cardroom in support of a bi-annual UBOC blew any doubt about that right out of the water.

Since the inaugural summer UBOC5 2010 kicked off on August 18th, 8,712 online poker players competed in 20 guaranteed UBOC events, with an overall UBOC prize pool of $3,912,260 in tournament prize money to be won; 911 players went on to snare their share of the UBOC5 prize pool, with an additional 416 players who also shared in the $100,000 in promotional prize money doled out in Pro Bounties, Single Event Satellite prizes, All-U-Can Satellite freeroll entries and bonuses, and Bubble Buster tournament entries andprize money.

In similarly stunning fashion, UB’s Mini-UBOC was anything but a shrinking violet. The parallel guaranteed tournament series aimed at low-limit players, finished up with 13,749 devotees, who competed for an overall Mini-UBOC prize pool of $371,533.50, with an eventual 1,414 pocketing a piece of that cash.

UBOC5 participants hailed from 55 different nations across the globe, proving UB’s annual online championship tournament series has truly reached international status and worldwide appeal amongst the online poker community.  While North Americans made up a huge percentage of the field, players from the U.K., Germany, Australia and Sweden combined to create another major chunk of registrants, and the remaining player base came from Scandinavia, the Iberian Peninsular, Central and Eastern Europe, the Mediterranean, the Asia-Pacific region, Central and South Americas, and the Middle East.

UB’s Online Championship series ran from August 18th through 29th, 2010, featuring over $4 Million in tournament guarantees and prize money, and presented an exciting calendar of various tournament buy-ins across a range of popular poker disciplines, including No Limit Texas Hold'em, HORSE, Pot Limit Omaha, 8-Game Mix, 4-MAX, 6-MAX, Heads Up and more.

UBOC6 is slated for January 2011. Players should check back regularly at UB.com and Absolute Poker where information will be shared as details come to hand, and follow UB.com on Twitter http://twitter.com/ub (UBOC will be referenced with #UBOC) for up-to-the-minute news.
