Despite their political differences, celebrity poker player and staunch supporter of US President Donald Trump appeared on Jesse Waters Fox News show Monday night to express his deep sorrow over the tragic murder of American film director, producer, screenwriter, actor, and political activist, Rob Reiner Sunday.

The 32-year-old son of Reiner was arrested on suspicion of murder and held without bail Monday in the stabbing deaths of his parents in their Los Angeles home, authorities said.
The case will be given to prosecutors on Tuesday as they consider formal charges against Nick Reiner, who was taken into custody hours after Rob Reiner and Michele Singer Reiner were found dead. Police haven’t said anything about a motive for the killings.
Rob and Nick Reiner had explored their difficult relationship and Nick Reiner’s struggles with drugs in a semi-autobiographical 2016 film, “ Being Charlie.” Nick Reiner has spoken publicly of his struggles with addiction. By 18, he had cycled in and out of treatment facilities with bouts of homelessness and relapses in between.

According to TMZ, Nick checked into The Pierside Santa Monica around 4 AM Sunday, using his credit card. His check-in came hours after he got into a heated argument with his father at Conan O'Brien's Christmas party.
From TMZ:
Eyewitnesses who saw Nick check in say he seemed "tweaked out", but there were no visible signs he had been in a violent confrontation.
The reservation was made for just a day, but Nick never formally checked out.
When the staff came into his room later Sunday morning, they found the shower "full of blood" and blood on the bed. The window in the room was covered by bed sheets.
Speaking to Jesse Waters, Woods discussed how Reiner had "literally saved my career" at a low point in his life.
"He put my on track in a way that was so important and rewarding in my life and he really fought for me when the studio didn't want me in the movie. I was 32 years too young for the part.
"I want from basically being out of a job to getting an Academy Award nomination and I give all the credit to Rob."

Much like the character he played on "All in the Family", Michael "Meathead" Stivic, Reiner was an unapologetic progressive / liberal on most social and economic issues. Woods, on the other hand, frequently lashes out at Democrats on his heavily followed X page.
"I'd be at a party and at my friend's house and people who didn't know Rob and I knew each other would see us laughing and kidding each other and go 'How is it that you and Rob Reiner are friends?'. And I would say 'What do you mean?' and they would say 'Well, you are so different, your politics and so on'. I would say 'Look, let me explain something to you, first of all, I judge people on how they treat me and Rob Reiner was a godsend in my life".
