The Commerce Casino Unveils HPT Championship Belt

Commerce, CA - The champion of Heartland Poker Tour’s upcoming event at The Commerce Casino will take home more than fame and fortune on September 23rd.  The winner of the nationally-televised Main Event in the world’s largest poker room will also score an ornate custom-made belt.  Although similar belts are common in sports like pro wrestling, the belt is a first-of-its-kind for poker in the Unites States.

HPT’s Director of Operations, Jen Mastrud, says the prize is fitting for such a prestigious event. “A big event deserves an especially big prize,” she said, “The Commerce Casino is as big as it gets.”

The belt is being produced by Top Rope Belts out of North Carolina.  The design replicates the façade of The Commerce and includes both HPT and The Commerce logos.  It weighs approximately ten pounds.

HPT’s television cameras will capture the moment of glory when the champion receives the belt.  “This may be our most dramatic finale ever,” said Fred Bevill, HPT’s Executive Producer. “Millions of viewers on four continents will witness this moment.”  HPT is available on TV in over 100 million homes throughout the United States each week, in addition to widespread distribution throughout Europe, the Caribbean, the Middle East, North Africa and Asia.

The event at The Commerce Casino is part of HPT’s Gold Rush Series that will sweep through California in September.  The series will start with a $150 event at The Commerce on September 4th before making its way to Thunder Valley Casino & Resort near Sacramento and Club One Casino in Fresno.  Each stop will have its own nationally-televised Main Event with a nine-handed Final Table.   Players will also earn cumulative points towards the Gold Rush title which comes with an HPT sponsorship package.
