Online poker players rejoiced last month when Americas Cardroom made its Sunday Night $50,000 Guaranteed tournaments — which gained wild popularity during April's Liberty Weekends series — permanent fixtures. Today the online poker site sweetened the program, announcing that players they can keep their wallets in their pockets when buying into the weekend headliners.
Players now have the ability to purchase their buy-in with "Combat Points," the currency used in Americas Cardroom's Elite Benefits Loyalty Program. Previously, players could only purchase their tournament buy-in with cash.
The massive Sunday Night $50K Guaranteed is Americas Cardroom's biggest weekly tournament, with a buy-in of $200+$15. Players can use Combat Points to cover the $200 buy-in (the equivalent of 13,200 points), the $15 fee (990 points), or both (14,190 points). Winners of the $50K Guaranteed typically take home around $10,000, with significant payouts also going to players making deep runs in the prestigious weekly events.
"Elite Benefits is designed to put more money in our players' pockets than any other rewards program," Americas Cardroom spokesperson Michael Harris said. "A natural extension of these benefits is to do all we can to help our players enter our most popular weekly event."
The Sunday Night $50K Guaranteed begins each week at 7 p.m. ET, with players starting off with 10,000 in chips. The tournament has blind and buy-in structures that are familiar to U.S. players. It is also a re-entry tournament, as all players eliminated while late registration remains open can buy back into the event as new participants. Players can also enter the tournaments via low buy-in satellite events taking place on Americas Cardroom each week.
When players make their first deposits on Americas Cardroom, they are automatically enrolled in Elite Benefits, which uses the highly generous dealt-rake method to calculate points. There are five tiers to the program: Lieutenant, Captain, Major, Colonel and General. To move up in rank, players must earn a predetermined number of Rank Points per month. While accumulating Rank Points, players also earn Combat Points, which can be used to enter tournaments like the Sunday Night $50K Guaranteed, as well as in the Elite Benefits Store, where players can exchange them for items like LED TVs, iPads, high-end laptops, vacations — even a custom cruiser motorcycle.
