PokerStars.com EPT Barcelona has kicked off with a total of 263 players playing Day 1a.  The buy-in for this event was €5,300.

Dermot Blain of Ireland led the way early.  He has live tournament earnings just shy of $700,000 lifetime, most of which was won at the 2009 APPT Macau Summer Poker Festival.

Alex Gomes of Brazil was the second biggest chip leader after Day 1a.  He has just $21,000 in live poker tournament earnings but is a PokerStars team player.

Last year’s EPT Barcelona drew in 478 players and created a total prize pool of €3,382,000. Carter Phillips, a PokerStars qualifier, won the top prize of €850,000.  Phillips had the 14th biggest chip count by the end of Day 1a.

One of the more recognizable names among the top 20 chip leaders was Antoine Saout, who has won nearly $4 million in career live tournaments.

This event goes from November 22 -27, 2010.
