Poker fans will be excited to learn that Harvey and Bob Weinstein are set to produce “Rounders 2”, a sequel to the wildly successful poker classic “Rounders” made in 1998.

“Rounders” was about the underground world of high stakes poker and featured an all-star cast that included the likes of Matt Damon, Edward Norton and John Malkovich, who played Russian mobster Teddy KGB.  The Weinstein’s have expressed an interest in casting Robert DeNiro in that role for their sequel.

“I’ve discussed making 'Rounders 2' with Matt Damon and I would say that’s going to be instantaneous,” Harvey Weinstein told [Writers David Levien and Brian Koppelman] have a great idea, a way to make it more international where you start the card game in Paris, that’s all I want to say. The Weinstein’s are back at Miramax, a company they founded back in 1979.
