After opening at Auburn -2 ½,the South Carolina vs. Auburn line has stayed steady at -3.  This is promising to be among the most competitive games of Week 4 College Football with two closely ranked teams.  South Carolina was getting 70 percent of the betting action in this game as of Wednesday press time.

ESPN.com’s Scout Inc. is predicting a Gamecocks victory here as Auburn is a little beaten up coming into this game.

Auburn is coming off consecutive knock-down, drag-out victories over Mississippi State and Clemson, and those physical battles will catch up with the Tigers this week because Auburn is a little nicked up. Look for the South Carolina's defense to set the tone early, with Cliff Matthews and Devin Taylor setting the edge against the run and Stephon Gilmore and Chris Culliver limiting Auburn's big plays downfield.

The Tigers should put forth another strong defensive effort and keep Marcus Lattimore in check, but watch for Auburn to wear down in the second half. That should lead to a few seams for Lattimore, and set the stage for Stephen Garcia to make a few big throws downfield. Garcia will show signs of maturity in a tough victory in Jordan-Hare Stadium.
