Following a firestorm this past week covered extensively by Gambling911.com in which poker pro Daniel Negreanu was quoted as calling his fellow pro and UB.com representative Annie Duke a “f***ing c***” during an interview with a British poker news site, Negreanu has apologized for his ill-advised remarks.

Reaction throughout the poker community has been one of outrage since the incident was first publicized.

From the HBombPoker Blog:

Although he did make an effort by making that appology, I'm not sure if it changes anything. Does it take away or lessen the hurt that Annie and her family felt? I guess only Annie can answer that one! I do believe however, that it will take some time for Daniel to repair the damage that he did to his own reputation! I just don't think that one appology can make it all go away. I'm sure there are some people that would say that an appology isn't enough! I am one of those people. I do respect Daniel as a poker player because he is one of the world's best and so is Annie!

Ms. Duke was noticeably upset about the matter as many friends offered up support via her Twitter page.

Another blogger lashed out at PokerStars, for whom Negreanu represents, and questioned why its female pros haven’t spoken up in regard to Negreanu’s comments.

From The Poker Lawyer Blogspot:

All I can say is "shame on Daniel" and PokerStars and I wish more people felt the same.

Doyle Brunson “The Texas Dolly” was quick to weigh in on the comments, pointing out that Negreanu had denied making such a comment to the reporter in question, however, he did acknowledge referring to Duke as a “f**ing c***” in the past.
