CBS news magazine 60 Minutes featured a full hour segment of John Gotti, Jr., including the first exclusive interview.  Gotti Jr., a colorful character just like his father, refused to mention the words "Mafia" or "Mob" and even teased interviewer Steve Croft when he tried to slip "la cosa nostra' into the conversation.

At the end of the segment, Gotti, Jr. walked the interviewer out to his car and said he was "truly blessed."  He was free and could spend valuable time with his family.

Gotti Jr. told of how he idolized his father and how he wishes he were not involved with business of "the streets", as he called it.

The interview asked Gotti, Jr. if he fears being "whacked".  He answered, "Every day."

Gotti Jr. had his attorney beside him during the interview.  60 Minutes explained the rationale there:  Law enforcement would be watching and reviewing every word.

The piece originally aired last month and can be viewed here.

In 1992, Gotti Sr. was convicted of 13 murders, conspiracy to commit murder, racketeering, obstruction of justice, illegal gambling, extortion, tax evasion, and loansharking where he was sentenced to life in prison. He died there 10 years later of cancer.
