OAKLAND PARK, Fla. (Gambling911.com) - The family of Bayern Star Alphonso Davies were depicted in an AI-generated gambling advertisement this week whereby the soccer star's dad was depicted being arrested. He was not.
The advertisement also shows police supposedly finding a vault full of cash. Davies then goes on to promote the offshore casino brand Oxibet.
Davies' agent says the family has no connection whatsoever to the promotion.
The Instagram ad falsely claimed that Davis' father won $3 million gambling.
The ad itself was reportedly placed on Instagram by an advertiser calling itself “Prime Spin Zone.” It was not immediately known if Oxibet had anything to do with or was aware of the ad.
Davies’s agent, Nedal Huoseh, was furious to learn of the ad’s existence, calling it “lies.”
“They don’t gamble,” Huoseh said of the Davies family. “And Alphonso does not do anything with betting or gambling sites whatsoever. As well, nothing with alcohol and cannabis.”
Huoseh said he wants to “go after” the people who created the fake ad, but he said AI-created images are becoming a real issue.
“It’s a big problem we have to deal with,” said Huoseh. “The problem with AI is that there are no regulations in place.”
Oxibet describes itself as an online casino and sportsbook offering slots, casino games, sports betting and cryptocurrency transactions. Its website says the operation is owned by Green Web Design and Development Ltd., a company registered in Belize.
