First Full Slate of Saturday College Football Games Kick Off

Saturday September 5, 2026 (9:39 am EDT)

Clemson vs. LSU

Ahead of Saturday's Noon EDT game, DraftKings had LSU seeing about 65% of spread tickets as a -10.5 favorite, while the money is much closer to evenly divided. Circa's splits are dramatically different, with 89% of spread money on Clemson +10. That disagreement between books is itself indicative of an actively traded game.

Boise State vs. Oregon

Probably the strongest afternoon betting game. No. 2 Oregon against Boise State gives you a recognizable underdog against a national-title contender. The public is hammering Oregon despite the huge number, according to reports from various sportsbooks.  DraftKings currently shows roughly 83% of spread bets and 93% of spread handle on Oregon -24.5. The Over 51.5 is also attracting extraordinary action — around 85% of tickets and 99% of handle in the current snapshot.

Baylor vs. Auburn

This is a relatively competitive Power-conference matchup rather than a 25- or 30-point mismatch.  DraftKings currently has Auburn -7.5 receiving 54% of spread bets and 66% of handle. More interestingly, the Under is attracting disproportionate money despite most tickets being on the Over.

Encore Boston Harbor Employees Go on Strike

Saturday September 5, 2026 (9:34 am EDT)

More than 1,300 workers at the Encore Boston Harbor are officially on strike effective Friday September 4.  The workers, part of labor union Unite Here Local 26 and Teamsters Local 25, voted in August to authorize a strike. Their contract with casino owner Wynn Resorts expired on Aug. 31, and according to the union, a new contract has not yet been negotiated.  Workers gathered outside carrying signs and using drums, air horns and megaphones as picketing began. Despite the strike, Encore Boston Harbor remained open, with replacement workers and non-union staff continuing operations while negotiations remain unresolved.  The dispute centers on wages, healthcare, pension protections and job security provisions. Union leaders say the company’s proposals have fallen short of employee expectations.  Customers can expect disruptions to services despite the casino being open 24 hours.

Massachusetts Gaming Commission Investigates Former ESPN Writer for Proxy Betting

Saturday September 5, 2026 (9:34 am EDT)

A former long time sports journalist for 14 years at ESPN and founder of The Ringer  is under investigation by the Massachusetts Gaming Commission after FanDuel reported the individual for proxy betting.  That individual is Phil Simmons, who has reportedly admitted to having his daughter's boyfriend place bets for him from Massachusetts.  Simmons resides in LA. Proxy betting is where another individual is found to have placed a wager on another person's behalf.   With online sportsbooks, it can include giving someone else access to your sportsbook account so that person can make the wager from a jurisdiction where betting is permitted.  In an ironic twist, FanDuel is the exclusive sports betting sponsor for The Ringer.
