Kentucky Derby Odds: Make Me Music 45/1
Kentucky Derby odds for Make Me Music were set at 45/1 (or +4500) at SBG Global for a payout potential of $450 on every $10 bet. Make Me Music is one of the biggest long shots in Saturday's Derby.
From Michael Hammersly of the Daily Racing Form:
"Make Music for Me is multiple Grade 1-placed and finished right behind Eclipse champion Lookin At Lucky three times as a 2-year-old. Trainer Alexis Barba has made a mark in California with this runner and stablemate Alphie's Bet, the Grade 3 Sham upsetter. Adding blinkers off a rest of nearly three months helped Make Music for Me win his maiden in a Santa Anita turf stakes over Macias, a multiple stakes winner of $167,000. He may now be more focused with maturity gained off the freshening."
Alas, he has his weaknesses. Hammersly points out that Make Me Music has never raced on dirt and followed his return win with a sixth in the Blue Grass, which had the lowest winning Beyer (94) of the five Grade 1 Derby preps.
There is also not much evidence suggests that he can finish with the top contenders at 1 1/4 miles.
Still, last year's biggest long shot, Mine That Bird, winning the Kentucky Derby is still engrained in our minds and there are those who will certainly want to lay $10 to win $450 on Make Me Music as there were with Mine That Bird.
