John Harbaugh's odds of becoming the next New York Giants head coach were coming in at +150 (bet $10 to win $25 total) within hours of his firing by the Baltimore Ravens Tuesday evening. Both New York City tabloids were reporting dreaming of Harbaugh heading to the Meadowlands.
Ravens Let Harbaugh Go After 18 Years
Harbaugh spent 18 years with the team, reaching the AFC title game three times in his first five seasons as coach and winning a Super Bowl.
The Ravens managed to go just 8-9 and missed the playoffs after entering Week 1 as one of the Super Bowl favorites.
The situation was made worse when Baltimore seemingly had a Playoffs spot in the bag but Tyler Loop missed a last-second field-goal attempt, allowing Pittsburgh to hold on for a 26-24 victory in the game that decided the AFC North title.
“This was an incredibly difficult decision, given the tremendous 18 years we have spent together and the profound respect I have for John as a coach and, most importantly, as a great man of integrity,” Ravens majority owner Steve Bisciotti said in a statement. “Throughout what I firmly believe is a Hall of Fame coaching career, John has delivered a Super Bowl championship to Baltimore and served as a steadfast pillar of humility and leadership.”
“Well, I was hoping for a different kind of message on my last day here, someday, but that day has come today,” Harbaugh said in a statement. “It comes with disappointment certainly, but more with GRATITUDE & APPRECIATION. Gratitude to the owner and organization who was willing to bring in a head coach who made his mark with special teams success. A difficult thing to do … and Appreciation for all the moments, all these years, that are etched into eternity.”
BetOnline was quick to post odds on who the Ravens next head coach might be.

How the New York City Tabloids Are Looking at This
John Harbaugh’s surprise availability forces change to Giants’ plans — and wild ride could follow, according to the New York Post.
What was expected to be a long and drawn-out process for the Giants just got longer and more drawn out. They are waiting to see what happens in the first round of the playoffs with Mike Tomlin and the Steelers and Matt LaFleur and the Packers. One or both of those respected head coaches could be let go, depending on how their teams fare this weekend. This could end up being a wild ride, with a few monster candidates sorting through all sorts of offers.
Giants general manager Joseph Schoe has never worked with Harbaugh but he is familiar with him from their shared time in the league. It is not a requirement for Schoen to have a connection with a candidate, but it certainly does not hurt. The Giants will interview Broncos defensive coordinator Vance Joseph, The Post confirmed, and he will not need to introduce himself to Schoen.
The New York Daily News reports that Schoen said Monday that he is integrating "AI" into the Giants coaching search, and the Daily News is told that yes, it's true. This was prior to the Harbaugh firing.
The Daily News focused more on when Harbaugh could become available for an interview.
