Known as the "Bitcoin Jesus", Roger Ver has reached a tentative $48m deferred-prosecution deal with the US Justice Department, allowing charges to be dropped if he meets the terms, the NYT reported. According to the New York Times, the $48m deal marks the same amount prosecutors said he owed, in exchange for the eventual dismissal of charges if he complies with the agreement’s terms.
The deal reflects the shifting approach to crypto regulation under President Donald Trump whereas the prior administration of President Joe Biden had taken a more restrictive approach as it pertained to cryptocurrencies.
Ver, 46, rose to prominence in Bitcoin’s early years for his relentless evangelism. His efforts earned him the nickname “Bitcoin Jesus.”

A Senate committee has cleared a bill that would put federal restrictions on the commercials, which it managed to do in 45 seconds and without debate.
