PITCHING PROBABLES Friday: Mets: Luis Severino (5-2, 3.42 ERA, 1.16 WHIP, 74 strikeouts); Pirates: Paul Skenes (4-0, 2.06 ERA, 1.03 WHIP, 70 strikeouts)

LINE Pirates -129, Mets +110; over/under is 7 1/2 runs

New York has a 21-18 record on the road and a 42-43 record overall. The Mets have a 35-18 record in games when they record eight or more hits.  The Mets have climbed over the .500 mark and come into this game winners of six of their last ten games overall.

The Mets starter, Luis Severino (5-2, 3.42 ERA), has permitted just four RBI's and a homer off of these Pirates in 45 at bats. He has conceded just two runs with a 3-0 record in 17 career innings against the Pirates.

Severino allowed four runs in seven innings against the Astros on Sunday. He struck out three and walked one.  He did not factor into the decision.

David Peterson (3-0, 3.51 ERA) starts for the Mets on Saturday.  He's faced these Pirates 31 times with just three hits permitted. The sampling may be small but this is impressive.

He has pitched well in his last two starts but failed to factor into the decision, throwing 6 1/3 innings of two-run ball Monday in a no-decision against the Nationals his last start.

Sean Manaea is slated to start for the Mets on Sunday with the opposing starting pitcher not yet known.  Manaea, however, is .169 versus these Pirates.

Pittsburgh is 41-45 overall and 20-22 in home games. The Pirates have a 29-12 record in games when they record eight or more hits.  They only won four of their last ten games however.

Paul Skenes will start for the Pirates on Friday.  He's 4-0 with a 2.06 ERA.

Skenes struck out nine over six innings of one-run baseball but didn’t factor into the decision Saturday against Atlanta. His last win was on June 17.

Bailey Falter (4-6, 3.87 ERA) starts for Pittsburgh on Saturday.  The Mets have faced him 55 times and Falter's only allowed them four RBIs. Falter allowed just a run over five innings to get a win Sunday against Atlanta.  He was lit up for five runs (four earned) over four innings prior to that in a loss to the Reds.
