College Football News warns that the 2022 team with their two losses was seemingly a whole lot stronger in key spots than the 2023 version appears to be.
The 2022 version nearly lost to a mediocre Texas A&M team as well in 2022.
With two of (Nick) Saban’s best-ever players in (Bryce) Young and (William) Anderson gone, Alabama enters 2023 with more questions than it has faced in several years. Alabama annually has one of the most talented rosters in college football, but it has fallen short of the College Football Playoff in two of the past four seasons. Returning to the playoff this season will require the Tide’s next offensive star to emerge, either at quarterback or wide receiver.
During scrimmages, Saban was asked how was the offensive line played. These are not good signs.
"Inconsistent, not enough depth. We had a couple explosive runs but you know, when you're playing against each other, was the explosive run because of great execution or was it because of terrible execution on the other side? Until you watch the film it's kind of hard to evaluate. I just think we need to get more guys in the offensive line to be able to play winning football and we need to add depth to the group. We have maybe, six, seven guys that I think are in play but we need a lot more than that to get through the season."

Alabama's Hot March Madness Tournament Run
Alabama was one of the four top seeds in this year's tournament. They had the second shortest odds of winning it all after the Houston Cougars coming into this tournament.
The Tide were expected to go deep in this year's March Madness, and they hadn't disappointed.
They passed their first test, winning 96-75 against Texas A&M-CC and followed that up with a 73-51 win against Maryland. They were set to face off against SDSU in the Sweet 16 but lost to a team that made it into the championship.
