A Revealing Look at Just How Pervasive DraftKings Limiting of Players Has Become

When DraftKings CEO Jason Robins tweeted about how much he embraced competition, little did we know how many folks would chime in providing their own horror stories relating to the drastic reduction of betting limits.

We already knew about - and Robins has alluded to - the practice of DraftKings lowering the limits of suspected pros and shutting their accounts altogether.

But what we didn't know was the practice appears more commonplace than originally believed, at least based on the Twitter responses.

Robins tweeted out last week:

"As a leader in sports entertainment, @DraftKings welcomes competition. Competition forces everyone to keep up or get left behind. We prefer to be out in the lead. We’re natural competitors who always welcome the chance to improve our game. Competition only makes us stronger."

The responses would be hilarious if this was comedy.  It's not!

"You like competition but I can only bet 32c per play."

"Used to love the app when I could make an actual bet on it."

"You are definitely the undisputed leader in limiting winning sports bettors. Congratulations!!!!"

"If competition only makes you stronger, why do you ban anyone who makes money on your app?"

"So u are done limiting?"

"You limit my max on boost to $5 and I can’t even bet over $26.84 on a side now on your site. Dk sucks"

And it's not just Twitter, folks on Reddit have also expressed similar cases of limits being reduced down to near nothing following lucky runs.

"Welp, I just got limited by DraftKings. How can professional bettors keep making bets?  I'm not a professional bettor, just asking how professionals prevent from getting limited. I'm also have 5 different sportsbook accounts besides DK."

On Twitter, Scott mocked Robins remarks as they apply to competition with other operators in the sector.

"Says the company that won’t let any other books operate in the state of Oregon."

Yes it's true that DraftKings does have a monopoly in Oregon, however, we would note that is by design of the Oregon State Lottery.  DraftKings did offer a vast improvement over the prior provider that operated its only mobile sportsbook.

DraftKings is also the sole operator in New Hampshire.

PowerSlapLeague on Reddit offered a strategy that is widely used by savvy sports bettors.

"You need to spread out your bets on all the apps and not just stick to one.  There is a limit with each sportsbook that they'll let you win a row before they limit you it's ridiculous. It's like you have to take a loss every 4 parlays or they nail you for having skill. Totally bogus."

Operators should be in agreement as this truly does lead to competition beyond just DraftKings, FanDuel, Caesars and BetMGM, which pretty much dominate greater than 90 percent of the US regulated market.
