Conservative commentator, long time sports handicapper and ardent supporter of the former U.S. President Donald Trump, Wayne Allyn Root (often referred to as WAR), blasted late night show comedian Jimmy Kimmel for essentially calling him a fool as part of his Monday night monologue.

Kimmel claimed during the monologue that Root "embarrassed himself by defending (Donald) Trump honoring Julius Caesar".

The reference was to the former U.S. President having dinner with a white supremacist along with recording artist Kanye West two weeks ago at Trump's Mar-A-Lago resort home.

Root's opt-ed is entitled "The Greatest Gaslight in History - This Jewish American's Take on President Trump and Kanye West and Nick Fuetes" and Kimmel displayed a screen shot of Trump's tweet thanking Root while condemning "disloyal Jews".

Wayne spoke to Gambling911.com's own Thomas Somach to offer his rebuke.  At times, it's as if WAR is channelling Trump through his responses.

"I have not one but (many) tv shows of my own…and my audience thinks Jimmy is a bore, with a weak monologue and obsessed with 'Trump Derangement Syndrome', which is why his late night ratings are down so dramatically. That’s what happens when you forget the point of late night comedy shows is comedy….not liberal lectures.

"Purposely killing your own ratings is called career suicide," Root added.

Kimmel makes no secret of the fact he is no fan of the former President.

"But I’m game. Anytime Jimmy wants to invite me on to have a fair debate on Trump and Fauci, let’s dance!  Now THAT would actually be entertaining. A ton of conservatives would tune into watch that debate! He’d get his highest rated show in years."

"Jimmy Kimmel Live!", for the record, did rank as the No. 1 late-night talk show among Adults 18-49 (301,000), beating NBC's "The Tonight Show" last month. Ratings have gone down from 2.2 mm to 1.5 mm over the last six years.  The comedian is set to host the upcoming Oscars for the third time.

Wayne continued his rant.  "He might even realize diversity and tolerance means you don’t ban or censor. You debate. That’s actually the definition of 'science' too. Listening and exposing all kinds of diverse views.

"Weekly debates with me might actually make his show popular again.”

Root's sports handicapping website is VegasWinners.  He claims a current win percentage of 75% in college hoops.

*The article was updated to show the decline in "Jimmy Kimmel Live!" ratings between 2016 and 2022.
