Cheney, Murkowski Face the Music on Tuesday: Primary Odds Available for Both

Alaska Republican Senator Lisa Murkowski is among the more vulnerable to be reelected in November but her odds are much better than Wyoming Republican Congresswoman Liz Cheney.

Both are daughters of beloved politicians and both supported the second impeachment of former U.S. President Donald Trump as it pertained to the January 6 Capitol riots.  The two have been shunned by their party.

Murkowski's is an open primary on Tuesday, with the top four finishers moving on to a November election that will use a ranked-choice voting system.

Alaska’s election system gives Murkowski a chance to be judged by all the voters there, rather than registered Republicans alone, most of whom still support Trump.

BetOnline has assigned Murkowski -200 odds to win reelection.  She's been here before, having a prior win as a write-in candidate with a name that's not exactly the easiest for most people to spell.

As for Cheney, some polls have her down as much as 30 points versus her opponent in the Wyoming GOP primary, Harriet Hageman, the Donald Trump-backed candidate.

The primary in Wyoming is also open to Democrats and Independents who opt to change their party affiliation.  Many have chosen to do so. Hageman has said that, if every Democrat were to change their affiliation, it might not even be enough to push Liz over the finish line.

Cheney pays $900 for every $100 bet with a win.  Make no mistake about it, this would be an upset.
