One of the more popular Super Bowl prop bets is the color of the Gatorade bath hurled upon the winning coach. Orange pays out $15 for every $10 bet or $150 for every $100 bet.

Orange was the color of the Gatorade dumped on Chiefs head coach Andy Reid in last year's Super Bowl win.
But there is often a connection drawn between a team's color scheme, mainly its uniforms, and the selected Gatorade color. This year's teams - like last year's - are both red. That color pays out $22.50 for every $10 bet.
The Gatorade bath prop bet is so big that books must be on guard to monitor any suspect wagering tied to potential insider information. After all, there are folks who determine the Gatorade color presumably well ahead of the big game.
Last year's suspicious betting pattern observed on the color purple was all to do about nothing.
Dave Mason of BetOnline told Gambling911.com at the time that his company observed unusual betting patterns on the color purple, so much so that the price has dropped from a 14-1 long shot all the way down to EVEN (or +100) odds. It remained on the board, and ultimately was a loser.
History of the Gatorade Bath
The Gatorade bath is said to have originated from one of two incidents.
In the mid-80's when Jim Burt performed the action on Giants head coach Bill Parcells after being angered over the coach's treatment of him that week.
Burt insisted that Harry Carson be the one to dump the Gatorade on Parcells, because he was a favorite and wouldn't get in trouble.
Former Chicago Bears defensive tackle Dan Hampton insists it was he who invented the shower, not Jim Burt. In 1984, his team dunked Bears head coach Mike Ditka with a bucket of Gatorade upon clinching the NFC Central.

No Correlation Between the Bath and Team Uniforms Usually
It's a common fallacy to link the Gatorade color to a team's uniform, as seen over the years.
The 2014 Super Bowl was won by the Seattle Seahawks. Its color scheme is blue, silver and bright green. The Gatorade bath that year was orange.
Green Gatorade was used to dump over 49ers head coach Jim Harbaugh. There is no green to be found in the 49ers uniform or insignia.
Green Bay's 2011 Super Bowl win did not include the popular green Gatorade color.
