Week 10 NFL Picks (2009)

Sports Interaction betting analyst Frank Doyle makes his Week 10 NFL picks. He is 15-8-1, .652, for the season so far.

Oakland has beaten Kansas City straight up for three years running in Kansas City, including the Raiders' bizarre win in Week 2 this year, but they haven't beaten the Chiefs in Oakland itself since 2002.

2002 was the year the 14-2 Raiders got to the Super Bowl, but it seems a lifetime away now. The Raiders and Chiefs are both franchises in disarray at the moment but I think the Raiders worth the points with Sports Interaction this weekend. I think the teams' recent controversies will have opposite effects on their fortunes so, even though it's hard not to be tentative when you're betting outside the better teams in the League, Oakland -2 with Sports Interaction is the first of my Week 10 NFL picks.

The New Orleans Saints have been living on their wits in recent times, struggling against Miami and Carolina - Carolina! - in recent weeks. They're big road favorites at St Louis but it's kind of hard to back the Rams because the Rams are terrible while the Saints could be going to the Super Bowl.

That said, the Rams do enjoy one of the premier running backs in the game in Steven Jackson so maybe if they can run a ball control offense they can limit the damage that the Saints do to them, by denying time of possession. Fifty seems a high sort of number for this game, because you have think that all New Orleans wants is a chance to take it easy and regroup. Under 50 total points scored between New Orleans and St Louis with Sports Interaction is the second pick of my picks for Week 10 of the 2009 NFL regular season.

Finally, the game of the week is New England at Indianapolis. It's an interesting game to handicap because you have two marquee teams, Super Bowl winners with quarterbacks who are first ballot Hall of Famers, no questions asked. But that doesn't really apply in the here and now because now, half-way through the 2009 season, both the Patriots and Colts are struggling just a little bit.

Indianapolis scrapped home against Houston and San Francisco in consecutive weeks, while New England lost - on the road - to Denver and the Jets. The Patriots won by ten against Miami last week but they haven't been getting it done in the red zone. I don't think they'll get it done on Sunday either. Colts -3 with Sports Interaction is the final pick of the week.
