Les Scadding has been out of work since last Christmas and was £68 overdrawn on his bank account.  He is also a survivor of testicular cancer.  Now he's £45.5m richer having won the EuroMillions lottery this week.

The 58-year-old who lives in Caerleon, near Newport, South Wales, with his wife Samantha Peachey-Scadding, 38, said they had not slept since checking the numbers online on Saturday, according to the Daily Mail.

I'm very lucky to be here, having suffered with cancer,' he said. 'I think somebody decided I have got to wait until now because I'm going to win the lottery.'

Mr Scadding was joined by a group of office IT workers dubbed the 'Magnificent Seven' who were also celebrating today after winning a share of the UK's biggest ever lottery prize.

I have never, ever, in my whole life owned a new car,' he said. 'I'm going to buy one now.'

He said he had been a 'kept man' since being unemployed but would be making sure the roles were reversed from now on.
