UFC 252: Miocic vs. Cormier 3 Previews

Stipe Miocic faces Daniel Cormier for the third time. UFC 252: Miocic vs. Cormier 3 takes place at the UFC Apex in Las Vegas and Miocic's UFC heavyweight title will be on the line. There will not be fans in attendance because of the COVID-19 pandemic.

Cormier was on top of the light heavyweight division while Jon Jones was out of action because of his outside the cage issues. He was able to keep the light heavyweight division relevant before deciding to move up to heavyweight.

Once he did, Cormier claimed the UFC heavyweight title with a first round knockout against Stipe Miocic at UFC 226 on July 7, 2018.

DC then defended it against Derrick Lewis, submitting him in the second round at UFC 230 on November 3, 2018.

Miocic waited for over a year to get his rematch and was frustrated on the sidelines. He claimed that Cormier was lucky in the clinch position and that the win was a fluke.

An Ohio native, Miocic also said that since he holds the record for most successive title defenses in the division, he should have gotten an instant rematch.

Cormier eventually accepted the rematch and Miocic became a two-time UFC heavyweight champion after his TKO win in the fourth round at UFC 241 on August 17, 2019.

Look for Daniel Cormier to try to wrestle his way to victory. Miocic warned him saying: "every fight starts standing, don't forget that."

There's a lot at stake for Miocic and Cormier, two of the greatest mixed martial artists of all-time. This is a very close fight and both competitors will use a conservative approach.
