Pittsburgh Steelers vs. Detroit Lions odds were set at Steelers -10 ½ as the road favorite.  Close to 80 percent of those betting on this game were placing action on the Steelers at this number.  These Steelers vs. Lions odds were pretty consistent across the board.  The line opened at -9 ½.

Detroit's rookie quarterback was playing extremely well before he was knocked out of the game last Sunday. Sitting out this week would threaten to stunt the rapid growth he had shown over the past two games, although playing a tough Steelers defense will give him a severe challenge even if he is able to play.

With Rashard Mendenhall delivering in a big way the Steelers running game should return to being at least a better than average run offense. The improved running game will open up even more opportunities for Ben Roethlisberger. The Lions pass defense has allowed opposing QBs to complete over 72 percent of their passes, according to AccuScore.

Last week, Ben Roethlisberger got his ninth career 300-yard passing game and the Steelers avoided their first three-game losing streak since 2006.

Rashard Mendenhall had a career-high 165 yards and two TDs. He's the fifth Steelers player to reach those totals in a single game since the 1970 merger.

The Steelers were 5-for-5 in the red zone and have converted 12 of 13 attempts (8 TD, 4 FG) in the red zone in 2009.

Detroit was beaten badly by the Bears last week - a score of 24-48.

Pittsburgh has dismantled Detroit the last two times they have played them over a stretch of nearly 10 years.
