The Hard Crock in Sioux City expects to go live some time in mid September, missing out on the first few weeks of college football.

"We're able to move forward, and we need to basically have our internal controls gone through one more time for approval, and then have some of our other processes tested," Hard Rock Vice President of Operations Mike Adams said. "On the mobile application, this now allows us to take the product we have and begin the testing phases with that, to go for approvals. We're hopeful in the near future that we'll have that as the next option as well."
Their sportsbook will take up 400 square feet of existing casino space.
The Hard Rock Casino is accessible to those living in southeastern South Dakota and northeastern Nebraska.
On Thursday, The Iowa Racing and Gaming Commission approved Riverside, Grand Falls and Rhythm City's agreement with one of their corporate subsidiaries to operate sports betting.
Six Iowa casinos began accepting bets on sporting events on August 15.
Local bookies, agents and Pay Per Head operators are looking to get a piece of the action as more and more people gain exposure to sports betting through marketing in the state. A requirement that individuals register on-site to open mobile betting accounts provides offshore outfits with a substantial edge, at least for the next two years. Bookies have the added advantage of being able to extend credit to gamblers.
There is also the spillover effect. Many in Nebraska, South Dakota and Minnesota will get a taste of legalized sports betting, but will be unable to place bets via their mobile devices from home with licensed state operators.
