High Court Ends Gambling Ad Ban in Kenya

One of the most prolific gambling and sports crazed nations, Kenya, will no longer ban gambling ads, at least for now.

The betting control and licensing board had earlier imposed the ban and the nation’s Supreme Court shut it down.

Advertising on social media platforms had also been prohibited.

In an odd twist, celebrity Musician, Murigi Wanjohi, claimed the ban would adversely affect his livelihood.

Heeeeee's Back: Holzhauer Returns Following Break

Professional sports betting Holzhauer returns to Jeopardy Monday following a hiatus to make way for the Teacher’s Tournament.

Holzhaue has won more than $1.6 million over 22 consecutive victories on the game show.

His appearance promises to be a ratings bonanza for the show.  The Las Vegas native is averaging $76,864 per show.

Jeopardy's current viewership is now greater than that of Game of Thrones.

From the Hollywood Reporter:

In the week of April 29, the show notched a peak 8.3 rating — its highest since March 2005 — and averaged 13.28 million daily viewers for the week. (By comparison, Game of Thrones' final season premiere drew 11.8 million live viewers, though that number shot up significantly with delayed viewing.)

Those profits come from licensing fees from stations; ad sales; and, believe it or not, Jeopardy! slot machines, which produce up to $25 million in revenue annually, according to one source familiar with the revenue breakdown.

Holzhaurer's appearance won't translate into increased ad spend as deals were already locked in months in advance.
