Legal Online Sports Betting Coming to Michigan Soon?

Michigan’s lawmakers passed legislation during the lame-duck session that would open the door to legal sports betting in the state.

The state is expected to become the 5th to legalize Internet poker as well.

The Michigan Gaming Control Board “may permit internet gaming operators licensed by the division to accept internet wagers under this act on any amateur or professional sporting event or contest” as per a line appearing in the passed bill.

The outgoing Governor was expected to sign the bill by December 31.

“Michigan will be easily will be a big part of the equation because of your population, because of your interest in sports, and the different types of gambling you have in Michigan,” said executive editor of CDC Gaming Reports in Las Vegas Howard Stutz.
