Nevada Lawmakers Renew Effort to Restore Full Gambling Loss Tax Deduction

Monday October 12, 2026 (8:40 am EDT)

Rep. Steven Horsford (D-NV), while attending the Global Gaming Expo (G2E) in Las Vegas, renewed his push for passage of legislation he introduced that will allow taxpayers to claim a 100 percent deduction for their total net gambling losses from their total net gambling wins.  Horsford introduced the FULL HOUSE Act along with Republican Representative Max Miller of Ohio. In July 2025, President Donald Trump signed The One Big Beautiful Bill into law. In 2026, it changed the way taxpayers treat casino winnings and losses. The new law limits the tax deduction for casino losses to 90 percent of losses incurred. This means that if you have neither a win nor a loss, you may owe taxes due to your “net” winnings/losses.  His is a companion bill to that of the FAIR BET Act in early July 2025, introduced by fellow Nevada Democratic Representative Dina Titus.  “Rep. Titus welcomed the committee’s decision to support this measure however expressed frustration at how long it took them to take action,” she stated. To date, over 25 members of Congress from both sides of the aisle have supported some version of restoring the SALT deduction. However prior to voting, there were significant barriers to making progress. “It now will need to be approved by the full House and Senate and then go to the President,” he continued. At present, there are no scheduled dates for future Congressional action.

Jim Harbaugh First NFL Head Coach Fired Odds

Monday October 12, 2026 (8:40 am EDT)

Jim Harbaugh was widely expected to become the new First NFL Head Coach Fired favorite in this betting market, overtaking Todd Bowles.  Harbaugh's LA Chargers are now 0-5 to start the season.  To make matters worse, Sunday's loss was almost entirely on Harbaugh.  With the Chargers leading 17-10 with 10:33 remaining, Harbaugh opted to go for it on fourth-and-1 from his own 41. But quarterback Justin Herbert was stuffed on the play, never coming close to moving the sticks. Five plays later, Denver tied the game with a touchdown to snatch the momentum back.  Harbaugh called his decision the wrong one, a message he relayed to the team in the locker room after it dropped to 0-5 for the first time since 2003."I can't think of a time where I've been more mad at myself," he said. "This team works so hard, played so valiantly. And yeah, I take 100% accountability for making that decision and turned the momentum of the game. So it was the wrong one and I got to be right on those."
