With the US Supreme Court ruling last month that paves the way for legalized sports betting in each state that wants it, the National Football League (NFL) continues to steadfastly oppose the move.

Congress is about to hold hearings on the matter and the NFL will have a chair at the table.

Whether the administration of US President Donald Trump will be swayed seems unlikely in light of Trump's months long spat with the league over its National Anthem policy.

New Jersey and Delaware have already joined Nevada as states now offering full service sports wagering.  Others could soon follow before the start of the new NFL season.

Other leagues such as the NBA have accepted the Supreme Court decision with team owners like Mark Cuban of the Dallas Mavericks suggesting the ruling will most certainly boost the value of each franchise.
