Sweet 16-Florida State vs. Gonzaga Betting Preview, Prediction

There have been a plethora of upsets so far in this tournament and there have been some very big surprises. There are also still some great teams left and they will be most difficult to beat. Such as Kansas, Villanova, Kentucky, Duke, West Virginia and Purdue. All of the teams on the right side of the bracket are good and they are all legitimate contenders. Syracuse is a surprise but they have played like nails and Duke could have some problems with them. It will all be first half problems and they will adjust but look for a great game. The Gonzaga Bulldogs may very well be the best team left in this tournament and they have come from behind in both victories to seal the deal and get in the Sweet 16.  SCROLL DOWN FOR MORE

Finding ways beyond diversity is what Gonzaga does so very well. Just when you think they are dead, they sneak up and tag their opponent. They love the element of surprise and Mark Few is a master motivator. They won’t sneak up on The Florida State Seminoles. The Seminoles are a good team, that’s also well coached and they will be a difficult opponent even for Gonzaga. The problem for the Seminoles will be keeping up down the stretch and their lack of perimeter shooting. Gonzaga will grind away from inside and especially from outside.

The matchup index for this game is showing Gonzaga with a 75% chance of winning this game. That’s all well and good but the matchup indicator does not suit up and play the game! Florida State got to this point because they are also good and they have some very big boys including two centers in 7-footers Ike Obiagu and 7-4 Christ Koumadje. These two have combined for 101 block on the season.

Review : March Madness – Picking a winning NCAA Tournament Bracket

Florida State was 3-0 in overtime games against eventual NCAA Tournament teams and rallied to beat Clemson; still alive in the Midwest Region after trailing by 18.

"We've stayed connected," Coach Leonard Hamilton said. "We have a great relationship with our players. We have our ups and downs and everything is not always perfect, but I'm so proud of these guys. They allow us to challenge them.”

Gonzaga was off for nine days between their last game of the season and the first game of the tournament, there were obvious signs of rust in the first game against UNC-Greensboro but they got over it fairly quickly in the second game against Ohio State.

Few, on Norvell:

"He's just a fiery guy with some swag from Chicago, and we need that," coach Mark Few said. "You add in the fact that he's right there with probably the most clutch players I've coached, going back to Dan Dickau or Adam Morrison. The shot before the 3 (in Gonzaga's late run against Ohio State) missed by 8 feet, and to come back and swish the next one ... that's like me shanking two into the water and then hitting a hole-in-one, which doesn't happen."
