SEC Investigating Cryptocurrencies

The U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission is looking into the cryptocurrency market, the Wall Street Journal reported.  Scroll Down

Bitcoin slipped following the news, but subsequently pared some of those losses with the digital currency last trading at $10,335.35 Wednesday evening Eastern Standard Time.

Dozens of subpoenas and information requests to technology companies and advisers involved in the red-hot market for initial coin offerings have been issued.

These ICOs allow cryptocurrency start-ups to raise funds through the issue of digital tokens.
