Turkey Tightens Screws on International Web Gambling Sites

Turkey, which accounts for a significant number of sports gamblers to online gambling websites, will now make it more difficult for sites located outside that nation to target Turkish citizens.

Turkey’s finance minister says he hopes to seize as much money as he can from unauthorized online gambling operators serving Turkish punters, according to Steven Stradbrooke of CalvinAyre.com.

The Turkish government estimates that some US $11.4b has been lost to international Web gambling sites.

The country’s financial institutions have been enlisted to carry on this fight “night and day”, the CA site reports.
