Dreyfus Looks to Bring Poker Closer to Professional Video Gaming

It should be no secret in the wake of PKR Poker’s sudden demise this past week that the online poker sector is in need of a serious reboot.  Enter the explosive world of professional video gaming and eSports.

That’s exactly where the Global Poker Index founder Alex Dreyfus wants to take poker.

The details are sparse for the time being, but Dreyfus and his team have revealed they will create the Gaming Player Index (GPI), which takes The Hendon Mob and the Global Poker Index (GPI) framework and applies it to the video game industry, according to Lee Davy of CalvinAyre.com

Think: GPI Hearthstone, GPI Counter Strike, GPI League of Legends and you get the picture.  I mean, why play around in a $2 billion market when there is a $108 billion market sitting right next to it?

Both industries have recently found a niche with the social media streaming outlet Twitch.
