BetOnline Pays Out on Both Moonlight and La La Land for Best Picture

In a stunning move, online gambling giant BetOnline has opted to pay out bets on both Moonlight and La La Land as winners of Best Picture for the 2017 Oscars.

Moonlight won for Best Picture after the wrong film was initially announced. The production team from La La Land were called to accept the Oscar.

Presenters Warren Beatty and Faye Dunaway apparently received a wrong envelope — the one for best actress winner Emma Stone — with Beatty opening it onstage. Beatty appeared dumbfounded and handed the envelope over to Dunaway who then announced the winner as La La Land.

When they realized the mistake, representatives for ballot tabulators Price Waterhouse Coopers raced onstage to stop the acceptance speech.
