A Bad Place to be a Bookie Right Now: The State of Tennessee

Tennessee over the years would sometimes be a bad place for bookies to operate, mainly a result of the Vols being a powerhouse in College Football.

Now the local bookies are forced to deal with a Titans team in the NFL that has a legitimate shot of winning the AFC South and earn a spot in the Playoffs.

Seasonally speaking, Tennessee-based bookies have made out well overall.  Bettors only covered twice in seven of the first games.  Since that time the Titans have gone 4-3 Against The Spread.  With two more weeks to go in the 2016 regular season, Tennessee has won five of their last seven games Straight Up.

Where local Tennessee area bookies are really getting destroyed is with the total as the majority of public bets comes in on the OVER.  While the last two games Tennessee has played in have gone UNDER the total, eight of the previous nine went OVER.

The use of a Pay Per Head service would have helped reduce losses through the offering of live in-play betting, numerous proposition and future betting options as well as the option of adding an online casino.

A Pay Per Head runs all aspect of the bookie business with the exception of handling financial transactions.  They charge a small weekly fee per customer (per head), often starting around $10.  In the long run, bookies and agents alike save money while minimizing the headaches involved in running such a business entirely on their own.
