Five Indicted for Running New York City Sports Betting Ring
The Queens DA office has announced the indictment of five individuals charged with enterprise corruption – a violation of the New York State Organized Crime Control Act – and 1st Degree Promotion of Gambling.
The operation took booked upward of $750,000 in illegal sports bets each year, according to the complaint.
District Attorney Richard A. Brown said “Over the last few years – working with our law enforcement colleagues – we have taken down a number of these gambling operations and put them out of business.”
The wire room was located in Bayside, Queens.
Those charged include Jason Levine, 45, the apparent ring leader, Frank Nista, his primary agent, James Greene, Jason Levin and Russell Bellatera. The later two allegedly doubled as money collectors and runners.
