Vegas sports handicapper and one time Libertarian Vice Presidential running mate Wayne Allyn Root got into a testy debate with fellow guests of the HBO show live broadcast of “Real Time With Bill Maher” Friday night.  The show’s host, Maher himself, didn’t let Root off easy either.

Root brought up his concerns over the U.S. debt and questioned why American should provide aid to countries such as Greece, Italy and Spain in light of their recent economic woes.

“You do realize that (Donald) Trump’s economic plan would increase the debt?” Maher suggested to Root.

“No I don’t realize that because I think he will cut spending,” Root responded.

Maher claimed that even if Trump were to cut spending down to zero the national debt would still increase into the trillions since the presumptive Republican nominee also wants to cut taxes.

“There is no way to save America unless you increase growth,” Root insisted.  “You gotta dramatically expand growth.”

Maher also took issue with Root’s suggestion that illegal immigrants are “pouring over the borders”.

“They’re not pouring over,” Maher lashed out.  “Net immigration from Mexico has been at zero since 2007.  A fact,” he added.  “I know facts don’t get in the bubble.”

Maher also delves into the subject of transgender bathroom usage.

“I thought the culture wars might have been over but maybe not quite yet because they (the Republicans) are pretty upset that like… three people…  will start using a bathroom that would not have been the bathroom that they started to use when they were born.”
