Of all the horses competing in this Saturday’s Belmont Stakes race Frosted probably has the best odds (5-1) of beating American Pharoah, currently the -130 favorite to become the first Triple Crown winner in nearly 40 years.

Frosted has posted only one Grade 1 victory entering Belmont, the Wood Memorial in April, but has had several good showings, including a fourth-place finish in the Kentucky Derby.

"It's a whole lot different. It's a much tougher race with one main horse," Frosted's trainer Kiaran McLaughlin said. "American Pharoah looks like a superstar and is going to be very hard to beat. The closer we get to the race, I just have to keep going back to the fact that it's been a long time since we've had a Triple Crown winner. I've watched his workouts and he just looks like a special horse.

"Like I said, I love our horse. He couldn't be doing better. But wow, it's going to take a subpar race from American Pharoah, I'm afraid."

How We Follow Horse Racing Has Completely Changed

Horse racing has always been a sport built on routine. Certain days meant certain tracks, the form guide landed when it landed, and if you missed a race, you simply caught up later. Following the sport required a bit of commitment, a bit of patience, and often a bit of guesswork.
