This race is open to two-year-olds and is run on one mile of dirt at Belmont Park.  It features a $500,000 purse.

While everyone is thinking Breeders Cup Classic these next few weeks, the Champagne Stakes represents an important stepping stone for next year’s Kentucky Derby with 10 points awarded towards qualifying for the Derby.

The winner of this race will automatically be entered into the Breeders Cup Juvenile next month.
