Joran van der Sloot was convicted of killing Flores after meeting her in a Lima casino.  The Dutchman had been following the PokerStars sponsored Latin American Poker Tour at the time, though officials confirmed he was not slated to play in any of the national legs.

Peruvian prison spokeswoman Janeth Sanchez told The Associated Press that the 27-year-old Dutchman was moved Sunday to Challapalca, located high in the Andes near the Bolivian border. He previously was held at a prison north of Lima.

Once his term is up, Van der Sloot is expected to be extradited back to the US, where he is charged with wire fraud and extorting the mother of missing high school student Natalee Holloway.  She was last seen in Aruba in 2005 with Van der Sloot the prime suspect in her disappearance.
