The Viper Room in Hollywood, California was the setting for Sam Tripoli’s shock Rock N Pole World Championship last night (July 29) and some oddsmakers were brazen enough to permit betting on the event.
The contest, which began at 8:30 pm Pacific, featured a tag-team karaoke and pole dancing competition that was hosted by comedian Sam Tripoli.
BetDSI.com offered up odds on the featured talent with Mike C & Chastity (the implication being that the later is a virgin, something that is highly doubtful) favored at 2-1 odds.
The normally conservative online betting site with Midwest values, BetDSI.com even featured a promotional video leading up to Tuesday night’s event (which can be viewed below).
“The event was covered by TMZ and the Howard Stern Show last year but Gambling911.com is more a family value website and we view pole dancing as salacious,” noted G911 Senior Editor Payton O’Brien.
Senior International Correspondent Jenny Woo, now a new mom who has seen her fair share of poles in the past, chimed in. “This event could serve to exploit young vulnerable females, many of whom have been sexually abused.”
Many of these “pole dancers” are trafficked into the US from faraway lands to ply their trade.
Human trafficking is a form of modern-day slavery, and is the second largest criminal industry in the world after drug trade.
No word yet on how much action BetDSI.com got from the Rock N Pole World Championship.
