The 2014 Triple Crown is now history.  So did California Chrome become the first horse since Affirmed in 1978 to win the Triple Crown?

The answer:

NO

Here were your finishing positions:

1. Tonalist

2. Commissioner

3. Medal Count

California Chrome finishes 5th.

Prior to California Chrome, 12 horses have won the Kentucky Derby and Preakness Stakes only to lose the Belmont Stakes since 1978.

This is expected to go down as one of the most wagered on Belmont Stakes ever.

More than $9 million was bet on California Chrome, making him the most wagered on horse to ever go for the Triple Crown.
