Saturday’s Belmont Stakes race will be one of the longest any of the slated contenders have ever run.  Handicappers will most certainly be looking for entries that can run the distance.  One of Saturday’s contenders who is bred for distance is none other than Commissioner, coming in at long 45/1 odds at BetDSI.com.

Commissioner was a solid second in the Peter Pan at Belmont, but without a win in any stakes race thus far, oddsmakers have their doubts.

This Todd Pletcher-trained horse was beaten over ten lengths in both the Arkansas Derby and the Fountain of Youth.

Still, the odds are enticing when one considers the distance factor.  A $10 bet pays $45.

How We Follow Horse Racing Has Completely Changed

Horse racing has always been a sport built on routine. Certain days meant certain tracks, the form guide landed when it landed, and if you missed a race, you simply caught up later. Following the sport required a bit of commitment, a bit of patience, and often a bit of guesswork.
