California Chrome’s odds to win the 2014 Kentucky Derby Friday morning were set at +225 for a payout potential of $22.50 on every $10 bet.
These odds remained the same over the past 24 hours.
Steve Coburn, co-owner of California Chrome, pretty much guaranteed a win this week.
"With a good break and a clean trip, I think it's a done deal. That's just my personal feeling. That's what I have right here (pointing to his heart). I think it's a done deal," Coburn said.
Granted he’s a bit bias.
He's the fastest horse, based on speed figures, and came home very fast in the Santa Anita Derby, earning a field-best 106 BRIS Speed rating for his sterling 5 1/4-length.
Some would say, however, that this is not the pedigree of a Kentucky Derby winner. That has resulted in California Chrome being offered at some decent value with a payout potential better than 2-1.
